A year of Security Clearance
From the hunt for terrorists to intelligence on Iran, from debunking North Korea rumors to revealing military planning for Syria, CNN Security Clearance blog has been reporting on all facets of terrorism, national security and related coverage. In one year, we notched tens of millions of page views and our readers have left more than 100,000 comments, as well.
Examining terrorism and its implications on policy and daily lives, the blog has spanned the world. From the squeeze on al Qaeda in Pakistan to the evolving strengths of its affiliates in Yemen, the emerging threats in Somalia and in the West. We have looked at how governments try to stop terrorism with the increasing use of drones, intelligence gathering and messaging, as well as how terrorists influence and recruit, plus the debate at home about how to deal with terrorism and terrorists. CNN terrorism analyst Paul Cruickshank weighs in regularly with his insights on global jihad.
The threads of the terrorism story weave across many fronts: from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, to the challenge of Pakistan and the turmoil in the Middle East, to trends in intelligence and how the election intersects with national security.
We featured stories from the national security team travels around the world and from CNN reporters in our farflung bureaus including Nick Paton Walsh in Kabul, Reza Sayah and Nasir Habib in Islamabad, Ben Wedeman from Libya, Ivan Watson in Turkey and Nic Robertson.
In its first year, Security Clearance has delivered its share of scoops and exclusives, from our reporting just last week about the intelligence chief plans to crackdown on spying, plans to create a classified cloud for spies, first look at satellite imagery, details on investigations and diplomatic developments. intelligence and counterterrorism community and the growing prominence of women in key roles. In addition, chaussure air max, we brought you the inside stories of military missions and heroics.
